Description
🌄 ABOUT THIS SONOMA COUNTY LANDSCAPE:
A lone tree stands in the fog near Stemple Creek, its silhouette softened by the mist rolling off Tomales Road. Captured just across from the Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma, this black and white landscape reveals the quiet power of nature’s stillness—where beauty hides in the hush and strength rises in silence.
🌿 A PIECE OF MY JOURNEY, JUST FOR YOU
Since moving here in 2005, I’ve passed this tree more times than I can count. On this particular misty morning, something pulled me to stop. The fog hung low, muting everything but the elegant form of that tree—its twisted limbs stretching skyward like a whispered prayer. I stood there for a long moment before lifting the camera. When I clicked the shutter, I knew I had captured something more than just a tree—I had captured a reflection of quiet resilience.
As a retired Coast Guard veteran with roots in Eastern Kentucky, I see this tree as a witness: to time, to weather, to the passing lives of those who’ve served just down the road. It’s not flashy, but it endures—like so many of us who carry strength without making noise.
This piece is for anyone drawn to the introspective beauty of fog, to quiet landscapes that carry deep emotion, or to the power of simplicity. A moment like this doesn’t just decorate a space—it settles into it.
