Description

In the heart of Sonoma County, my landscape photography took an unexpected turn when I met Fergus. I’m not sure of his real name, but Fergus just fits, and he seems content with it. Roaming the rolling hills of Petaluma with his shaggy coat and majestic horns, Fergus has a presence that commands attention—a perfect subject for my camera.

One sunny afternoon, I visited the local farm where Fergus lives. He’s become more than just a photographic muse; he’s my quiet companion. I often find myself talking to Fergus about life’s ups and downs. He listens intently, offering no advice but a comforting presence. Sometimes, I swear he nods in approval, as if he gets it all.

As I reviewed the day’s shots, one image of Fergus, his eyes hidden under his thick fringe, caught my attention. It quickly became a favorite and a piece I knew I had to share in my Etsy store. There’s something about his tranquil charm and quiet strength that resonates deeply with me. Fergus embodies the spirit of the land—unassuming, thoughtful, and connected to the world in a way that feels deeply familiar.

He reminds me of myself: not much of a talker, always observing, seeing life in black and white, and appreciating the bond between the land, its creatures, and the people who cherish them.
